5.0 out of 5 stars Great for baby who breast feeds, January 2, 2011

We just started pumping and introducing a bottle in preparation for my return to work. Our 4 1/2 week old daughter took this bottle with zero hesitation and is now going back and forth between breastfeeding and bottle beautifully. All the parts sounded intimidating but are actually very easy to use and clean. Neither my husband or I had ever bottle fed a baby before, and we figured it out without difficulty.

For any other first-time, clueless parents out there: this set comes with a size 1 (newborn)nipple attached to each bottle (5 total) and 2 size 2 nipples that are extras. I didn't see anywhere in the description that said the size 1's were included (just listed the size 2 nipples)and having never done this before we didn't realize the Size 1's came as part of the bottle, so I ordered the newborn size separately. Oops, but we'll use them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love the idea, but the nipple gags my baby, May 20, 2010

I have been looking for a bottle that my daughter will not reject. My daughter was using The First Years Breastflow BPA Free Starter Set, but suddenly rejected the bottle. We noticed that she became very gassy with those bottles, so tried the Dr. Brown's bottles, which were recommended by my home daycare provider. I believe that the venting system is important, as the Breastflow nipple would collapse completely while she was drinking, making it harder to draw milk. However, the nipple on the Dr Brown's bottle was so long and narrow my daughter would gag regularly as the nipple hit the back of her throat.

The bottle also leaked from the sides/vent after returning to an upright position even though I filled the bottle below the max fill line.

A little advice: if you are trying to find the perfect bottle... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best buy for breastfed babies, April 4, 2010

I recently purchased the BreastFlow by First Years for my 3 wk son. He seemed to drink pretty well from them, but the flow was too fast and the nipples seem to collapse. It was kind of a pain to squeeze the nipple to get the milk back into the bottle.
My friends told me about the Dr. Brown bottles and showed me the nipple flow. I bought some based on my friends recommendation and have fell in love with the bottles. My son drinks slower, has less gas, and does not spit up as much. I would highly recommend these bottles to anyone who breastfeeds and pumps, or breast and formula feed. My son did not realize he was full for 10-15 minutes after using the BreastFlow bottles, with the Dr. Brown's (because of the slower flow nipples that simulate the actual breast flow speed) my son realizes he is full soon after his feeding.
Definately worth the money, wish I would have known about the differences in the compared products nipple flow and I wouldn't have wasted my money on the... Read more
